I have the more weighty ‘gold’ rated Hiplok and have used it for nearly a year now. In truth I don’t wear it that often as it is pretty hefty. I tend to leave it at work and only carry it about when I know I need to travel somewhere other than home or stop off on my way home.

It’s a great lock though. It feels solid enough to give me confidence and that is partly down to the weight. It’s not the most comfortable wear, it tends to rub a little on my hips but, it does win over most locks I’ve owned with its convenience.

I certainly think the Lite version is the optimal one for cycling, certainly regarding the weight as you mentioned. And, although it’s not gold rated, should be sturdy enough to deter thieves.
              Happy cycling,
              Pete
